Steps
- Pick a passage you're allowed to adapt (your own text, public domain, or something your license allows).
- Paste it into the prompt and name your grade and the three target levels.
- Read all three versions. Check that key vocabulary and facts survived the rewrite.
- Run the questions prompt so each version has comprehension questions that test the same ideas.
- Print or post them with neutral labels (A, B, C) so students don't see a ranking.

Three versions
I teach grade [GRADE]. Rewrite this passage at three reading levels: [e.g. grade 3, grade 5, grade 7]. Keep the same key facts and these vocabulary words in every version: [WORDS]. Shorter sentences at lower levels, but don't make it babyish. Label them A, B, C.
Passage:
[PASTE]Matching questions
For each version (A, B, C) above, write 5 comprehension questions that test the same 5 ideas, worded for that reading level. Include 1 vocabulary question and 1 'why do you think' question. Give an answer key.Replace anything in [BRACKETS]. AI output can be wrong, so check facts, names, and numbers before you use it.
